Welcome to WEST CO Jewellery — a brand built on honesty, transparency, and a genuine love for quality jewellery that doesn't break the bank.
We believe everyone deserves to wear beautiful jewellery without being misled about what they're buying. That's why we're upfront about every piece we sell.
What We Sell
Our current collection includes chains, bracelets, and sets. All of our current stock is plated jewellery — specifically a copper alloy base with a 925 sterling silver coating. We want to be completely clear about this so you know exactly what you're getting.
In the future, we plan to introduce gold plated and stainless steel options. We will also be bringing in engagement rings and wedding bands made from solid, real 925 sterling silver — but that's coming soon, not yet available.
Plated vs. Solid Sterling Silver — What's the Difference?
Plated Jewellery has a base metal (in our case, copper alloy) that is coated with a layer of another metal (in our case, 925 sterling silver). It looks beautiful and is very affordable, but the coating can wear over time depending on how it's cared for.
Solid 925 Sterling Silver means the entire piece is made from sterling silver — 92.5% pure silver mixed with other metals for strength. It is more durable and longer-lasting, and is what our future engagement and wedding ring range will be made from.
How to Care for Your Jewellery
To keep your plated jewellery looking its best for as long as possible, follow these simple tips:
- Keep it dry — Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising. Water and sweat can speed up wear on the coating.
- Avoid chemicals — Keep jewellery away from perfume, lotions, cleaning products, and hairspray. Apply these products first and let them dry before putting on your jewellery.
- Store it properly — Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratching. Keep it away from direct sunlight and humidity.
- Clean gently — Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe your jewellery after wearing. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cloths.
- Wear it with care — Remove jewellery before sleeping, doing heavy work, or any activity that could cause it to knock against hard surfaces.
